Always the right drive

The new linear actuator with mounting adapter from Oriental Motor makes it even easier for designers to find the optimal drive solution. Since the linear actuator already has a suitable spindle and plastic nut, the stepper motors of the PKP and AZ series can be quickly and easily connected to form a linear unit. This not only gives machine builders extreme flexibility when selecting the motor - they also save components, time and installation space.

Oriental Motor has developed the new linear actuator with mounting adapter for the PKP and AZ motors with frame sizes of 28 mm and 42 mm. The stepper motors of the PKP series offer a wide range of motor sizes, which are supplemented by various options such as electromagnetic brakes or incremental encoders with a resolution of up to 4,000 pulses/revolution.

A battery-free absolute encoder, on the other hand, is the trademark of the closed-loop stepper motors of the AZ series - the encoder makes external reference sensors superfluous. With the help of the new linear actuator with mounting adapter, designers can now very easily combine the PKP and AZ drives to create a linear unit that suits them. These are available with strokes between 50 mm and 300 mm and have a self-locking mechanism in the versions with a small spindle pitch (e.g. 2 mm).

Machine and plant manufacturers also benefit from time and material savings when using the new linear actuator with mounting adapter: They need fewer components because the coupling is already integrated into the adapter. This saves installation space and connecting the linear actuator and motor is very easy because only five screws have to be tightened.

Since the new linear actuator is compatible with the drives in the PKP series, designers have not only 2-phase but also 5-phase stepper motors at their disposal. They can therefore also use a stepper motor with extremely low vibration and thus select the solution with the best performance for their application.
