Clutches

Modern mechanical engineering is striving for ever more compact components with higher power density and smaller external dimensions. At the same time, the safety aspect, such as collision protection in the event of machine accidents, is becoming increasingly important due to increasing automation and dynamics.

With the SKB safety clutch, Jakob Antriebstechnik has developed a solution that meets the requirements for overload limitation and collision protection for indirect drives. The great benefit of the SKB series results from the combination of various features: high release torques, a compact design, easy assembly thanks to the clamping ring hub, high concentricity and bearing load as well as the uncomplicated adjustment of the release torque.

Extremely high release torques can be achieved by using high-strength tempering steel with surface hardening or plasma coating of the functional surfaces. The particularly robust ball cage plays a decisive role in "release kickbacks" at high speeds. In addition, a labyrinth seal protects the grease-lubricated release mechanism from heavy contamination or washing out. The clamping ring hubs of the SKB series also allow for larger bore and shaft diameters compared to conical hubs.

A wide range of combination options

The SKB safety coupling can be expanded with metal bellows or elastomer coupling attachments if required. JAKOB offers a wide range of hub designs and compensation elements in various sizes. A well-thought-out modular system enables cost-effective production in small batch sizes and ensures short delivery times.
