Change systems
Automatic quick change
With its C40 Automation, SMW-electronics offers an inductive coupling system for changeover applications. The wireless transmission of power and signals allows moving components such as grippers or interchangeable pallets to be integrated into a digital factory via the PLC.
SMW-electronics' inductive coupling systems have become a new benchmark in clamping and gripping technology. They transmit power and signals via an air gap, thus eliminating the need for disruptive cables. This allows the coupling systems to connect moving and stationary components and exchange sensor signals between the application and the control level of an automation system.
Ideal for gripper changes, interchangeable pallets, and format changes
The C40 Automation is a cubic coupling system with compact dimensions of 40 x 45 x 22 mm. It is ideal for changeover applications. These include gripper changes in end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), the exchange of interchangeable pallets, and format changes in workpiece processing.
The system consists of two elements. The base element is connected to the stationary component, for example, on the robot side. The gripper, i.e., the moving component, is equipped with the remote element. When the robot rests on the gripper, both parts are linked via dynamic pairing within a few seconds. The gripper is supplied with 15 W of power, for example, to operate its integrated sensors. At the same time, signals are transmitted between the gripping unit and the control level. Features such as the ability to assign individual device names and a switchable signal direction expand the application possibilities.
C40 is easy to retrofit
Near-field transmission is contactless at a distance of 0 mm to 3 mm. Functions such as temperature monitoring, foreign object detection, and reverse polarity protection ensure operation. The system is therefore low-wear and low-maintenance. It is IP67 protected and can be used in demanding environmental conditions and is insensitive to vibrations. The C40 Automation is available for signal transmission via IO-Link and PNP/analog signals. A mounting kit allows for easy retrofitting.
