Drive power in size 055

The trend towards ever more compact servo drives in mechanical engineering also requires ever smaller gears to match. Neugart is responding to this with three new precision planetary gears in size 055: The new developments PSBN055, PSN055 and PSFN055 extend the proven Precision Line portfolio downwards.

The three new models PSBN055, PSN055 and PSFN055 are helical planetary gears from the Precision Line series PSN, PSFN and PSBN in size 055. The designation of the size refers to the square dimension or the centering collar diameter of the output flange, which here measures just 55 mm in width. Despite their compact dimensions, the gears offer a high torque density and great precision in the smallest of spaces. This makes them suitable, for example, for electronically controlled servo drives for small handling units in packaging and many other machines.

All three new developments are available in 1 or 2 stages and with different gear ratios from i=3 to i=100. They are characterized by a radial shaft seal and meet protection class IP65. In addition, their planet carriers are designed in a cage design, which makes the construction very torsionally rigid. In addition, the torsional backlash can optionally be reduced by 2 arcmin.

Individual design details

Despite all the similarities, the three new models differ in key details that make them ideal for different areas of application: The PSBN055 and the PSN055 have an output shaft (either smooth or with a key), a square output flange and reinforced deep groove ball bearings or preloaded tapered roller bearings. The PSBN055 impresses with its cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

Smooth-running deep groove ball bearings give the model a high efficiency of 98 percent at full load and allow quiet, homogeneous operation without having to forego high torques and drive speeds of up to 5,000 min-1. The PSN055, on the other hand, offers a particularly long centering collar on the output and can absorb high radial and axial forces thanks to its tapered roller bearing on the output side.

In contrast to the PSBN055 and the PSN055, the PSFN055 is a gearbox with a flange output shaft (optionally with or without a dowel pin hole), whereby the round, extra-large flange is equipped with pre-loaded angular contact roller bearings. This makes the (1-stage) gearbox, which is only 66 mm long, particularly torsion-resistant: It can absorb radial forces of up to 1,600 N and axial forces of up to 3,550 N.

Neugart solutions in small sizes

The new compact precision gears PSBN055, PSN055 and PSFN055 complement the Neugart range of compact gears in small sizes up to 055. As is usual with Neugart, the three new developments are also available from batch size 1. They are also integrated into the Neugart software tools Neugart Calculation Program (NCP) and Tec Data Finder (TDF).
