Zimmer Group is expanding its proven WPR5000 tool changer series with the addition of the WPR5031 size. Featuring a 31.5 mm bolt circle in accordance with EN ISO 9409-1, this particularly compact variant is available immediately. With this move, the company is specifically responding to the growing demand for smaller, high-performance solutions for flexible automation environments.

Downtime and lengthy tool change times often consume valuable resources. In many automated processes, time-consuming or imprecise tool changes lead to downtime and inefficient workflows—especially when flexibility and speed are critical. The WPR5000 series tool changers provide a solution by enabling automated change processes characterized by high repeatability and short cycle times.

The new WPR5031 size adds a compact solution to the portfolio without compromising performance or safety. The series now comprises a total of eight sizes—ranging from a 31.5 mm to a 160 mm bolt circle—covering a broad spectrum of applications, from small-scale handling tasks to operations involving payloads exceeding 500 kg.

A key feature of the WPR5000 series is its innovative locking system utilizing locking pins. The line contact design allows for the absorption of extremely high forces and moments while ensuring maximum stability. This is complemented by a spring-loaded, self-locking mechanism and optional integrated sensor technology that meets stringent safety requirements—making it ideal for machinery and systems requiring Performance Level d / Control Category 3 compliance.

Furthermore, the series offers exceptional versatility regarding energy transmission. Various energy modules allow for the integration of pneumatics, fluidics, electrical signals, power transmission, and communication interfaces into a single system. Standard IP54 corrosion protection and a maintenance-free service life of up to five million cycles underscore its high reliability in industrial applications.

By expanding the WPR5000 series, the Zimmer Group strengthens its position as a provider of high-performance components for robotics and automation. Users benefit from increased flexibility, reduced downtime, and sustainably optimized production processes.
