Couplings
Sensor-integrated couplings record precise measurement data in the drive train
With its advanced iPK model series, R+W offers a coupling solution with integrated sensor technology that records precise measurement data directly in the power flow. Torque, speed, and temperature can be measured reliably and almost in real time. Additional sensors, external cabling, or mechanical adjustments are not required.
At the heart of the technology is a compact system consisting of strain gauges, an integrated measuring amplifier, and a Bluetooth interface. Mechanical variables are recorded with high precision and transmitted wirelessly to higher-level systems. Power is supplied by battery or inductively. The entire sensor system is protected inside the coupling body and does not affect the mechanical function.
The sensor-integrated coupling provides users with valuable information for condition monitoring. Direct measurement in the force flow allows machine components to be designed according to requirements, load peaks to be detected, and maintenance to be planned in a targeted manner. This reduces unplanned downtime, increases plant availability, and lowers operating costs in the long term.
The new iPK series is compatible with the modular coupling system from R+W. It can be combined with bellows, elastomer, multi-plate, or safety couplings. The compact design allows it to be used even in confined spaces. Thanks to the screw connection, installation and removal are straightforward and time-saving.
The sensor-integrated couplings are designed for test benches, development environments, and industrial applications. They provide a reliable database for predictive maintenance, optimized plant design, and digital process monitoring. This creates the basis for more efficient processes, networked drive systems, and the implementation of digital maintenance strategies.
