Thermal management with profile

Cooling power supply components is the be-all and end-all when it comes to process reliability. Users rely on profile heat sinks from CTX, particularly in power electronics, which have to function in continuous operation and sometimes under harsh operating conditions.

The company offers tailor-made solutions for thermal management for all areas of power electronics. CTX Thermal Solutions uses them to equip converters, battery chargers, frequency converters, electric drives and inverters in addition to power supplies. Which heat sink is used depends not only on the power loss to be dissipated, but also on the requirements of the respective device. Profile heat sinks, cold-formed heat sinks and SMD heat sinks for natural convection are typically chosen when the device has to be robust and low-maintenance.

Powerful and versatile: aluminum profile heat sinks

Profile heat sinks made of aluminum offer effective heat dissipation through natural convection. This is made possible by their rib-like design, which creates a large heat sink surface. Aluminum profile heat sinks are usually made from an aluminum extruded alloy with a thermal conductivity of 200-220 W/mK.

CTX's range includes standard, project- and application-specific cooling solutions. Standard extruded heat sinks include finned, comb-profile and finger heat sinks as well as miniature heat sinks. The size of the standard profile heat sinks ranges from 12.4 mm to 750 mm wide, the weight is between 130 g/m and 75.1 kg/m and the thermal resistance is between 81.6°C/W and 0.04°C/W with Rth values.

CTX adapts the surfaces according to customer requirements

If required, CTX also carries out subsequent CNC machining. This is then carried out according to the customer's drawing specifications. The heat sink specialist's range of services also includes professional surface finishing through painting, chromating, anodizing or powder coating. In addition, customers can have their CTX heat sinks labeled using screen printing or laser engraving, or have them given a sandblasted or glass bead blasted surface.
