Chain tensioner

Three sizes, maximum flexibility, precise tension

Three sizes, maximum flexibility, precise tension

With different sizes and tensioning options, robust materials, mounting aids, and retensioning capabilities, norelem's new chain tensioner range reliably covers almost every requirement in mechanical engineering – from confined installation situations to heavily loaded chain applications.

Chain tensioners are used in a wide variety of machines and systems. Their main task: to compensate for the gradual elongation of a chain caused by wear by ensuring constant chain tension. This, in turn, increases the service life and reliability of the chain drive.

Norelem's chain tensioners operate freely oscillating and spring-loaded – excessive surface pressure is avoided, while the total force from chain weight and centrifugal force in the slack strand is optimally controlled. Installation is simple and ideally takes place directly behind the drive sprocket to keep the length of the slack strand as short as possible. The chain tensioner housings are made of plastic or steel; stainless steel housings are also available for the highest demands. The sliding profiles are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW).

Norelem offers solutions for almost every tensioning task.

The robust size TS is supplied as standard with a galvanized steel housing with a plastic coating, optionally with an arched profile or an elliptical profile. The tensioning system is equipped with two pre-tensioned compression springs. They can be released individually for three tensioning force levels:

  • Only the right spring released: high tensioning force
  • Only the left spring released: low tensioning force
  • Both springs released: extra high tensioning force

The compact size 0 is available in two tensioning force versions: light spring force (58-32 N) and increased spring force (132-60 N). The narrow design makes this tensioning system ideal for confined installation situations, and due to its plastic housing, it is completely corrosion-free. The versatile chain tensioners in size 1 are available in two tension force versions and two designs: light spring force (174-32 N), increased spring force (396-60 N), design A (short housing) and design B (long housing).

Optional features include a color scale for quick visual inspection of the chain tension and various mounting brackets and slotted holes for easy readjustment and compensation of alignment errors.
