Cables
Two in one: OCT solutions for servo and motor cables
In view of the growing volume of data in automation and drive technology, the trend is towards so-called One Cable Technology (OCT). SAB Bröckskes is one of the technology-leading solution providers for industrial Ethernet cabling and has also developed application-specific product series for hybrid and OCT cabling on this basis.
With its low-capacitance hybrid motor connection cable from the SL 875 C series, the speciality cable manufacturer offers cabling solutions for Sick Hiperface DSL and Heidenhain HMC6. Adaptations to other standards can be customised on this basis. The model variant specified for Hiperface is available as standard in ten versions with outer diameters from 9.8 mm to 24.4 mm. There are also four specifications in the Heidenhain standard with diameters from 10.8 mm to 15.4 mm. Robust, hard-wearing cable sheaths ensure that the cables are sufficiently flexible and stable to permanently withstand tight bending radii, even with minimum wire cross-sections of up to AWG 30 - corresponding to a wire cross-section of 0.057 mm2. To minimise capacitance, SAB Bröckskes has replaced the classic PVC insulation with low-capacitance insulation materials made of PE or PP. Additional small shielding capacitances guarantee low-loss transmission. For optimum EMC protection, the motor and servo cables manufactured by SAB Bröckskes have double shielding consisting of braided shielding and an aluminium-laminated PE film. The double shielding ensures interference-free operation of frequency converters. Symmetrical stranding with a split protective conductor reduces inductive coupling and improves EMC properties.
