Compact and cost-effective solution

The J1 inverter from Omron is a compact and feature-rich frequency converter designed for efficient motor control in a variety of applications.

It addresses the growing demand for customized automation solutions and offers essential motor control functions at an excellent price-performance ratio. The new inverter is particularly suitable for applications such as conveyors and belts, mixers, small fans, pumps, and simple material handling systems in sectors such as the food and beverage industry, manufacturing, agriculture, and HVAC. It enables efficient control of motor speed and torque, resulting in energy savings and improved machine performance.

Despite its compact size and affordable price, the J1 offers features otherwise only available on more expensive models. The device provides reliable motor control over a wide power range from 0.4 to 2.2 kilowatts at single-phase 200 volts and from 0.4 to 3.7 kilowatts at three-phase 400 volts. Its robust design includes features such as V/f control, dynamic torque vector control, integrated PID control, and overload protection for reliable operation even under demanding conditions.

Various protection functions, such as overcurrent and overvoltage protection, ensure the longevity of both the inverter and the motor. The device also supports automatic deceleration, a sleep mode for pump and fan applications, and slip compensation for stable torque even at low speeds.

The compact IP20 enclosure simplifies installation with side-by-side mounting to save space in the control cabinet. Connection is via the Modbus RS-485 standard. The J1 variable speed drive offers both digital and analog I/O options for a wide range of critical machine control requirements.

To best support both existing and new users, the J1 can be programmed using both Omron's Sysmac Studio automation platform and the newly developed, free J1 Editor configuration tool. This intuitive software boasts fast parameter editing and simple setup procedures.

The J1 is CE, UKCA, UL/cUL, EAC, and RoHS certified and is suitable for numerous indoor industrial applications.
