With the Viper motor controller, Kendrion introduces a customized, sensorless motor control solution for battery-powered applications in forestry, agriculture, construction, and mining. The controller enables manufacturers to meet the growing demands for efficiency, performance, and robustness in electrified off-highway applications. Viper provides a powerful foundation for electrifying demanding tools.

The market trend is clearly shifting toward electrification, efficiency, and brushless motors. At the same time, conventional motor controllers are increasingly reaching their limits—particularly regarding dynamics, performance, and adaptability. Viper was developed specifically for demanding mobile applications subject to high dynamic loads, such as those found in hydraulic pump systems operating in harsh environments.

Designed for a battery voltage range of 12 V to 48 V, the motor controller enables an efficiency increase of up to 50 percent compared to existing solutions. This significantly extends battery runtime and boosts available power—a crucial advantage for portable power tools. Thanks to its sensorless control technology, Viper reduces component count and enhances reliability. The robust, fully encapsulated hardware features an IP54 rating, is vibration-resistant, and is built for use in demanding environments. It ensures reliable operation across a temperature range of –20°C to +90°C.

A key unique selling point of the motor control system is the complete customizability of the physical module. Viper can be precisely tailored to the specific application—regarding both dimensional requirements and electrical specifications. This includes, for example, handling highly dynamic loads, optimizing start-up behavior (even under high pressure), and delivering short-term power bursts that provide maximum output while maintaining consistent, predictable mechanical behavior. Furthermore, the optimized control strategy ensures quiet operation while maintaining a compact form factor.

The technology’s performance has already been proven: Viper is successfully used in battery-powered rescue tools and hydraulic pump solutions for the automotive industry, and is installed in highly efficient solar-powered vehicles (160 V battery).
