Servo controllers
Even more convenient integration with third-party controllers
Baumüller now also offers basic motion control functions for its servo drives via the Profinet interface for external controllers.
Baumüller has been offering numerous interfaces to various fieldbus systems for its b maXX servo drives for many years. In this way, the drives can be combined with controllers from different manufacturers. Until now, however, the motion movements within the controller had to be created by the machine builder himself.
In order to make integration into third-party topologies even easier, Baumüller has now redeveloped some libraries for controllers with Profinet. These libraries contain modules for common motion functions such as position control, speed control and referencing. Depending on the module, either Profinet RT (Real Time) or Profinet IRT (Isochronous Real Time) is used for data transmission.
Pre-programmed libraries for b maXX inverters reduce own effort
The libraries with the function blocks thus no longer have to be programmed by the machine builder himself, but can be purchased together with the devices. This reduces the amount of programming and time required and thus also ties up less personnel capacity. As before, the inverters are connected to the controller via the Profinet fieldbus.
Baumüller is starting with libraries for versions V14, V15, V15.1. and V17 of Profinet, which are required to control Baumüller inverters. Further fieldbus systems are planned.
