High-performance with numerous technical options

SEW-Eurodrive presents a new controller platform that includes numerous options and also supports the hybrid approach of running two operating systems on one hardware.

The MOVI-C controller type UHX86A expands the control portfolio of the MOVI-C modular automation system in the upper performance range. Variants with different Intel processors, either Celeron or Core i3 to i7, are available. This means that the hardware can be easily adapted to the application in terms of performance.

There are also several options for the fieldbus variant: the device can be integrated into Profinet IO, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP infrastructures. There is also a choice of capacities for the main memory, the hard disks and the NVRAM memory for persistent data storage.

An EtherCAT interface (or SEW's own SBusPLUS protocol) is included as standard for connecting frequency inverters from the MOVI-C modular automation system for fast motion control as well as a variety of other EtherCAT devices. Like other controllers from SEW-Eurodrive, the MOVI-C controller UHX86A also supports the routing of PROFIsafe data for the transmission of safety-relevant information in automation applications with functional safety. This device is therefore not only suitable as a motion controller or machine controller, but can also be used as a cyber-physical controller for Industry 4.0 applications.

The device is supplied with a native hypervisor so that two operating systems can be run on the controller without affecting each other. This means that a multi-purpose operating system, such as Windows 10 IoT, can run alongside the real-time operating system required for automation and motion control. The latter can be used to run database applications, data analysis or visualization or to provide a secure bridge to the IT infrastructure.

A variety of applications are now reliably possible in one device - for both mobile and stationary applications - without compromising on security, industrial suitability or usability.
