Independence in drive

Kostal, a manufacturer specializing in motor-mounted frequency converters, promises its logistics customers an increase in their own vertical integration and, with it, potential cost savings.

Typically, the drive train, consisting of motor, gearbox, and frequency converter, is sourced entirely from a single source. This reduces the customer's degree of freedom because they are dependent on the same manufacturer for all three components.

Kostal breaks with this system with its manufacturer-independent concept. Kostal frequency converters are universally compatible with every motor on the market. Kostal converters can be combined with any motor, both in terms of control technology and mechanical adaptation.

What does this mean for the customer? They thus become system manufacturers themselves. For example, the customer can combine motor X with gearbox Y and the Kostal frequency converter to create their own drive system. This enables them to increase the vertical integration and thus offer significant cost savings. Kostal guarantees its customers that this self-assembled system will operate as well as, or even better than, the drive solutions from well-known system manufacturers in terms of precision, dynamics, and energy efficiency.

Kostal's control technology operates entirely without sensors, opening up further cost-saving potential for the customer. Additional features such as sensorless positioning and vibration monitoring are included.

Kostal pursues a holistic service philosophy based on the motto "Service is not just a word – support throughout the entire process." Along the way to developing their own system, customers receive support from Kostal experts, from planning the drive system and selecting the optimal frequency converter to commissioning in the respective application.
Kostal's intelligent devices make this particularly easy for the user. The Inveor frequency converters can not only measure the motor parameters independently, they also automatically recognize which motor they are currently connected to. The idea is to map the design and commissioning almost entirely automatically.

In summary, customers receive a drive system that is optimally tailored to their needs, integrates seamlessly into their application and, at the same time, saves costs through independence from system suppliers.
