TDK Corporation significantly expands the performance of the Micronas HVC 5x embedded motor controller family with the new HVC 5481G. The HVC 5481G is a system-on-chip (SoC) programmable gate driver for 6 N-channel FETs for controlling actuators, fans, and pumps.
Like all HVCs, the new HVC 5481G can be powered directly from the vehicle's 12-volt power supply and features a LIN transceiver for communication. The new gate driver is also largely software compatible with the existing HVC 5x family, as it contains the same ARM® Cortex®-M3 CPU with 64 KB of flash memory and 8 KB of SRAM.
In addition to the well-known hardware support for sensorless BEMF commutation as well as Micronas Hall-effect or TDK TMR sensors, the HVC 5481G is optimized for single-shunt sensorless FOC.
The HVC 5481G is available in a compact 5 x 5 mm PQFN32 package and is AEC-Q100 Grade 1 certified for automotive use. It offers a highly efficient and flexible solution for BLDC applications with medium power requirements in automotive and industrial applications.
