The future of automation lies in industrial ecosystems. Bosch Rexroth shows this with ctrlX Automation. The partner network is continuously growing and expanding the automation solution with hardware as well as an increasing number of apps, which are available in the ctrlX Store.
"We have taken our control portfolio to a new level. This modular ctrlX COREplus variant of the compact and high-performance control platform from the ctrlX Automation portfolio offers the option of adding I/O modules in addition to extended fieldbus interfaces. We are also revolutionising the market in 2022 with a new, extremely powerful variant of the ctrlX CORE. Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art CPU technology, this version achieves approximately 7 times the performance of the previous ctrlX CORE," explains Steffen Winkler, Sales Manager of the Automation & Electrification Solutions Business Unit at Bosch Rexroth.
Bosch Rexroth completes the ctrlX CORE product family with an entry-level variant with reduced interfaces and options. This means that the right control system is available for every application.
Engineering from the web
Bosch Rexroth is also presenting extensive functions for the ctrlX Works software and engineering toolbox. These make it possible to design engineering processes even more efficiently. Among other things, the execution of Docker images on the ctrlX Core is made possible. And with a development environment for Python and Google Blockly integrated on the controller, software can now be developed directly on the ctrlX Core.
Steffen Winkler says: "Our software and engineering toolbox is designed for easy creation, deployment and use of functions. It consistently uses web technology for this purpose. This significantly increases the possibilities for users. Virtual engineering can be done directly on the ctrlX Core via a web browser. In addition, a comprehensive portfolio of libraries and modules is available for typical automation tasks. For example, recurring engineering processes can be automated via simple scripts. This reduces the effort by 80 to 90 per cent. "
More apps - more service
The automation solution ctrlX Automation is designed to provide relief on various levels. The ctrlX Services support this as a central component with digital services and classic services. Bosch Rexroth has also further expanded this area so that users receive support throughout the entire product life cycle. Steffen Winkler explains: "In the ctrlX Store, the number of apps from Bosch Rexroth and third-party providers is growing continuously. This makes it easier to implement automation tasks or solve requirements for future technologies such as AI, 5G and simulation solutions. We now have 50 partners in the ctrlX World ecosystem.
