Safety control speaks FSoE
Flexible safety is a key component of intelligent machine designs. With S-DIAS Safety, users have access to a streamlined and cost-effective solution that ensures maximum reliability in safety-critical applications (SIL 3, PL e, Cat. 4).
The Sigmatek SCP 211 safety controller now offers a master function for the FSoE (Functional Safety over EtherCAT) protocol. This master functionality allows FSoE slave devices from various manufacturers to be integrated into an S-DIAS Safety application, safely controlled, and monitored. Data transmission is available via either EtherCAT or VARAN.
The SCP 211 can be configured as an FSoE master and the safety application designed using the graphical tool in LASAL SAFETYDesigner. This requires importing the ESI files of the FSoE slave devices (from SAFETYDesigner version 01.01.078 onwards). For convenient creation of safety-related applications, the library offers over 50 PLCopen-based safety function blocks, such as emergency stop, safety door monitoring, muting, two-hand control, interpolation, etc. The safety program is configured once with all possible optional modules and can subsequently be customized as needed, meaning there is one safety program for all machine configurations.
The modular S-DIAS Safety solution includes the compact SCP 211 (only 25 mm wide) and a wide range of safety I/O modules, enabling tailored safety applications.
By extending the SCP 211 with FSoE, users can flexibly and broadly implement safety-related functions from various manufacturers' safety components, such as controllers, motion control systems, robotics, and AGVs.
S-DIAS Safety can also be used as a stand-alone solution. This makes it possible to easily and, if necessary, gradually expand existing systems to include safety functions.
