Single-axis positioning control with current control for motors
With the Magellan MC58113 series of integrated circuits, PMD offers high-performance single-axis position, velocity and torque control for various motor types. These ICs are the perfect solution for almost any automated motion task where precision is critical.
There are four MC5x113 series ICs, each integrated in a single 100-pin TQFP package and operating at 3.3V. The MC51113 provides dedicated control for brushed DC motors, the MC53113 controls three-phase brushless DC motors, the MC54113 controls two-phase stepper motors, and the MC58113 (multi-motor version) can be programmed to control any of these motor types.
Magellan Motion Control ICs can be used for motion control in medical, scientific, robotics and automation applications. These flexible microchips offer versatile profile generation, closed loop servo, commutation, current control, pulse and direction output, direct quadrature encoder input and much more.
All Magellan motion control ICs support C-Motion, PMD's instruction set for initializing and controlling motion axes, monitoring performance and synchronizing overall machine behavior. C-Motion allows customers to develop their own application using C/C++ while working with Magellan ICs. PMD's Pro-Motion development software speeds and simplifies graphing, tuning and analyzing system performance.
A powerful motion controller
The MC5x113 series ICs are complete single-axis motor controllers that require only an external bridge circuit or amplifier to function. They connect to a host PC or processor via SPI, CANbus or RS232/485. User-selectable profile modes include S-curve, trapezoid, velocity contouring, and electronic gearing. PID servo loop compensation uses 32-bit position error and includes velocity and acceleration feedforward. High performance FOC ensures high-precision, low-noise motor operation.
