Controller
Teach robots quickly and easily
Industrial robots increase efficiency in manufacturing and logistics, but are too expensive for many companies. A more favorable in-house design was also usually not an alternative in the past, because the programming knowledge was lacking. This is no longer necessary: With the new MRC01 controller from Oriental Motor, robots can be operated without any prior knowledge.
With the MRC01, even inexperienced operators can create a functional program for industrial robots within an hour. The controller has been specially designed for drives that are operated with Oriental Motor's AZ series motors. These closed-loop stepper motors provide battery-free absolute positioning, making them ideal for driving robot joints.
The controller automatically handles complex kinematics calculations. This includes, for example, teaching the Tool Center Point (TCP), which is of central importance for the entire robot programming. Teaching the TCP enables the robot to move to the same position from different angles.
Users can choose between a Cartesian coordinate system, a hand flange coordinate system, a tool coordinate system and an axis coordinate system on Oriental's MRC01. The control also enables program mode, direct data mode and JOG/tip/ZHOME mode. Since possible axis offsets are taken into account during programming, the MRC01 is suitable even for robots with a high degree of freedom.
The MRC01 supports EtherNet/IP, so motion sequences for in-house robots can be easily created by transferring motion block data from a higher-level controller. The MRC01 is also equipped with 8 inputs and 8 outputs for direct I/O functions. Various control operations such as start/stop operation and control of peripheral devices can be easily performed. Various protection functions reduce the risk of unintentional movements, e.g. due to incorrect operation. In addition, the controller interrupts operation before the robot approaches a singularity during teaching and performs a dangerous movement.
