The new DGM Modular series of decentralized frequency inverters from Bonfiglioli is designed to control asynchronous motors as well as synchronous reluctance motors. Thanks to its various functions and options, this high-performance solution is particularly suitable for the packaging, logistics, material handling, food and beverage, and pumping industries. All sizes of the DGM are characterized by high performance and safety features.
The DGM series is available in four different sizes depending on the selected power and configuration. The standard DGM works perfectly with asynchronous motors and is offered as a single-phase version with a power range between 0.37 kW and 1.1 kW and as a three-phase version with a power range from 0.55 kW to 22 kW. In combination with reluctance motors, the power range from 0.55 kW to 30 kW is covered. The input voltage range is wide to adapt to any type of mains voltage: For the single-phase version, it ranges from 100 VAC to 230 VAC 50/60 Hz or from 140 VDC to 320 VDC; for the three-phase version, it ranges from 200 VAC to 480 VAC 50/60 Hz or from 280 VDC to 680 VDC.
Since the DGM series can be connected to all common bus systems such as Modbus, CANOpen, Profibus, Profinet, EtherCAT and Sercos III, and the DGM Modular also works with Ethernet/IP, the decentralized inverters can be integrated into all automation architectures.
All sizes of the DGM series have been designed with compactness and the optimization of heat dissipation in mind. The compact and robust die-cast aluminum housing provides excellent shock and vibration resistance, the latter up to 5 g. The high IP65 protection rating ensures dust and splash water resistance. The inverter can also be used outdoors and in aggressive environments characterized by the presence of ammonia or alkaline solutions, such as around swimming pools. The new DGM units are optimized to provide passive ventilation cooling up to 7.5 kilowatts. They are supplied with an EMC filter integrated in the frequency converter and can operate in a very wide temperature range from minus 25 to plus 50 degrees Celsius without derating.
The DGM series can be supplied in two versions: Either combined with a gearmotor or separately for wall mounting or for direct mounting on a motor. When the frequency inverter is supplied together with the gearmotor, the DGM units are pre-configured at Bonfiglioli's factories. Motor parameters are also set and autotuning is performed there. Users can change the settings as needed using the MMI keypad, available as an accessory, or with the VPlus Dec programming software. Incidentally, the clear VPlus Dec tool also allows users to perform all configuration, troubleshooting and testing operations very easily.
The standard DGMs are equipped with an embedded PLC whose functions can be used via the soft PLC program (IEC 61131-3). The PLC program can be used to customize the inverter functions. Programming can be done in FBD (Function Block Diagram), ST (Structured Text), IL (Instruction List), LD (Ladder Diagram) and SFC (Sequential Function Chart) modes. The DGM Modular series can also be equipped with a main switch in the housing. The versatility and at the same time the simplicity reduce the wiring effort. Various other functions are also possible on request.
