Drive controllers for high-speed applications with new performance classes
Sieb & Meyer has added further power classes to its SD4x product family, thereby once again expanding the range of applications. At SPS 2024, which is taking place in Nuremberg from November 12 to 14, visitors will be able to experience the latest models in the SD4S, SD4M and SD4B series up close. The drive controllers for high-speed applications impress with optimized performance, higher speeds and low motor heating without a sinusoidal filter.
Among other things, Sieb & Meyer is showing the now complete range of services of the SD4S in Nuremberg. The Lüneburg-based specialists in control and drive electronics have used the increased processor performance to increase the maximum output frequency to 4,000 Hz for synchronous and 6,000 Hz for asynchronous motors. New control functions enable, among other things, optimized operation of IPM motors. The additional reluctance torque available in these motors is optimized in real time, independently of the operating point. Thanks to the extensive communication interfaces such as CANopen, Modbus RTU/TCP, EtherCAT, Powerlink and Profinet IO, the drive controllers can be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of applications. The drivemaster4 parameterization software has been further developed and supports the user from system design to troubleshooting.
Multi-level frequency converter for minimal motor heating
The three-level frequency converters from the Sieb & Meyer SD4M series are particularly impressive in turbo-compressors and turbo-compressors. Their advantages here lie in the minimal motor heating and the high system efficiency, which enables significant energy savings and fast amortization times in quasi 24/7 full-load operation. In addition, the need for motor chokes or sine filters is eliminated, which reduces the size and manufacturing costs of the overall system. The SD4M also offers the control function for IPM motors. The frequency converters are available in variants for AC and DC supply in the power range from 70 to 500 kVA. The DC models are particularly suitable for regenerative applications such as flywheels or micro gas turbines.
Synchronous operation of several high-speed motors
The compact SD4B drive controller is ideal for use as a highly dynamic servo inverter for low-voltage rotary and linear servomotors. It also optimizes the operation of high-speed, low-voltage synchronous and asynchronous motors. In the high-speed range, the drive controller enables the sensor-based operation of motors with a superimposed synchronization function based on 24 V synchronization signals. This allows several high-speed motors to be operated synchronously in master-slave mode, which is particularly advantageous in optical applications. This makes it possible to operate several high-speed motors in a master/slave configuration with angular synchronization, which is particularly useful in optical applications. The robust speed control also ensures reliable operation at high mass inertia ratios of up to 1:100 between the motor and tool.
