Before limestone, clay, sand, and iron ore are transformed into ready-to-use cement, the raw materials—extracted from quarries—undergo a multi-stage processing and refinement process. Drive Components for Every Process Stage

Depending on the specific stage of cement production and processing, different components from the Ringspann portfolio take center stage in the drive technology landscape. These components are installed in crushers and pulverizers, as well as in blending beds, raw mills, cyclone preheaters, ventilation systems, rotary kilns, grinding mills, and bucket elevators. In some instances, high-speed or low-speed backstops prevent the unwanted reverse rotation of conveyor belts or bucket elevators; elsewhere, pin couplings ensure a torsionally flexible connection between machine shafts, while friction hubs protect drive trains against overload under torque load.

Drum and disc brakes from the Ringspann range provide braking and holding functions for conveyor belts, simultaneously serving as emergency safety devices; shrink discs connect hollow gearbox shafts to conveyor drum shafts; and gear couplings and universal joint shafts are deployed wherever torsionally rigid connections between machine shafts are required. In thermally demanding environments, Ringspann’s overrunning clutches, housed clutches, and conical clamping elements ensure reliable multi-motor operation; furthermore, when axial misalignments between various drive units need to be compensated for, the company’s multi-plate clutches perform this task with dependable efficiency.
