Dunkermotoren Mechanik and Vestamatic Elektronik join forces to develop and manufacture the new generation of Venetian blind motors with SMI 3.0. Two industry leaders in the field of shading automation have joined forces to redefine the market with the launch of a series of external blind motors with SMI 3.0.

Dunkermotoren, experts in high-performance motor solutions, have joined forces with Vestamatic, a leading provider of control and automation solutions, to introduce three state-of-the-art SMI (Standard Motor Interface) motor products specifically designed and engineered for external blinds. These offer unparalleled performance and seamless integration into building automation systems.

By combining their expertise, this partnership brings the smartest, most future-proof and most powerful external blind motors of their kind to the market. The motors are produced by Dunkermotoren and distributed exclusively through Vestamatic. OEM versions of the motors are also distributed directly by Dunkermotoren.

Key features of the new SMI motor range:

• Precision control: The motors feature advanced SMI technology that enables precise adjustment of blind slats for optimized daylight management and glare reduction.
• Seamless integration: Fully compatible with building automation systems, including KNX, Modbus, LONWORKS, BACnet, VRS and other third-party BMS platforms, ensuring a wide range of communication connections.
• Durability and reliability: The motors are designed to withstand extreme external conditions, making them ideal for commercial and residential projects.
• Energy efficiency: Thanks to the SMI protocol, the motors enable precise monitoring of energy consumption and efficient energy use, which is in line with sustainable building standards.
• End position setting: The motors can be set using Vestamatic's universal VL-Progset and then used in combination with SMI compatible third-party systems; alternatively, the motors can also be programmed directly via the SMI BUS in combination with Vestamatic SMI controls.
