Precision and performance in a double pack
In logistics, strapping machines help to prepare all kinds of goods for shipping: the plastic strap they tension keeps boxes closed or palletized goods together, thus ensuring safe transport. For electrically driven strapping machines, Servotecnica offers two series of micromotors, each of which is used for different work steps in one device.
The first two work steps are tensioning the inserted strap, which is placed around the goods and then pulled tight. The second work step is welding the two ends of the strap.
Pre-tensioning and tightening - SVTN B-01
The micromotors of the SVTN B-01 (ATOM DC) series from Servotecnica are ideally suited for the first work step. Based on iron coreless coil technology, they combine high power density with low weight and small space requirements: ideal for movements with high dynamics and maximum torque and power in the smallest of spaces. For use as tensioning motors in strapping machines, the models in the SVTN B-01 series are equipped with an integrated gearbox. For other applications, encoders integrated into the housing are also available; brushes are also available in precious metal or graphite.
Friction generates heat - SVTN A-01 for welding
When welding the strap ends, the Servotecnica micromotors in the SVTN A-01 (ATOM EC) series offer high performance. The special feature here: the brushless electric motor drives a head at high speed, which heats up considerably due to the extremely fast rotation and friction. This frictional heat is sufficient to firmly weld the pre-tensioned ends of the plastic strap.
This series of micromotors also combines high dynamics, power and torque in a very compact housing that requires very little space. Other features of the SVTN A-01 series are high energy efficiency and a long service life. Despite their small diameters (from 12 to 40 mm), they achieve power outputs of up to 400 W. The lack of cogging torque, low torque ripple, the linear correlation between speed and torque as well as the low mass inertia and low weight result in higher performance and dynamics. Servotecnica's SVTN A-01 micro drives are used in strapping machines without gears. For other applications, however, they can also be fitted with attachable, high-precision micro planetary gears.
