Without stopping through the sealing process
In the packaging industry, every millisecond counts: Only machines that offer maximum process reliability, even at high cycle rates, remain competitive. Econo-Pak GmbH's systems are designed for high performance and are primarily used in the food sector. For over a decade, robust AC housing motors from Groschopp AG Drives & More have ensured stability, safety, and hygiene in the sealing machines, even during peak production.
Folding cartons made of cardboard, filled with ice cream, pizza, or frozen vegetables, pass through Econo-Pak's packaging lines and are sealed with hot melt adhesive or hot air. In the upper rollers of the sealing machines, the compact three-phase asynchronous motors from Groschopp perform a crucial task: They guide the cartons safely through the process, even if the packaging is unevenly filled. The spring-mounted upper roller compensates for such tolerances. It prevents the cartons from jamming and the system from coming to a standstill. Defective items are rejected at the end of the process. This ensures a continuous production flow.
Robust technology, hygienically designed
The Groschopp IG series three-phase asynchronous motors used are designed for use in robust and hygienically demanding production environments. They feature a wide speed range. With a frequency converter, this range extends from 8 to 80 Hz at a nominal frequency of 50 Hz. This allows the small screw gear motors to be operated continuously at low speeds. Their smooth housing surfaces, food-grade lubricants, and the absence of a fan make them particularly suitable for use in the food industry. Thanks to the enclosed housing with convection cooling, the drives achieve IP 65 protection and are resistant to moisture and cleaning agents.
Customized solutions, rapid availability
Groschopp continuously develops its drive solutions and offers its customers numerous customization options with a wide range of flange, shaft, and brake variants, as well as housing designs. For example, a solution was found for Econo-Pak that could be seamlessly integrated into the existing machine concepts. “The drive experts provided excellent advice during the design phase and found suitable solutions for almost all of our small drive applications across our machine range. We are very satisfied with the quality and service of the AC housing motors. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been in use with us for over a decade,” emphasizes Max Schneider, International Sales Manager at Econo-Pak. Distribution partner Bretzel GmbH ensures rapid availability by reliably supplying the motors from stock.
