Load testing of large vertical motors
Menzel Elektromotoren now also tests vertically mounted motors under load. The medium-sized company has expanded its in-house test facility with a vertical right-angle gearbox featuring various flange options for vertical motors of different sizes.
This allows the company to test vertical motors for pumps, compressors, and other industrial applications under realistic load conditions. Menzel tests motors and generators manufactured in-house and also offers its state-of-the-art test facilities for manufacturer-independent external motor testing. Two large clamping bays are available. Overhead cranes with a hook height of 7.52 m move large drive units weighing up to 80 t.
The range of services includes all standard routine, type, and system tests with test voltages from 3 to 13.8 kV. Machines up to 1800 kW and 2300 kVA can be subjected to load testing. For higher electrical power ratings, Menzel offers heat resistance testing using the load-simulating method according to IEC 60034-29. The test engineers and certified technicians carry out all measurements and tests in accordance with EN 60034 and document them in detail. They also have extensive expertise regarding the testing requirements of international acceptance organizations.
