R+W Antriebselemente introduces the ST5, a new safety coupling that combines high operational reliability, a compact design, and precise torque limitation. The coupling reliably protects drives from overload while ensuring smooth, low-vibration operation. This makes it a high-performance solution for demanding industrial and heavy-duty applications.
Precise Shutdown and Vibration Damping
The ST5 is equipped with specially developed rubber elements and safety modules that enable precise torque shutdown. In the event of an overload, the switching segments reliably disconnect the input and output, preventing damage to the machine. The shutdown torque is preset at the factory and can be adjusted by the operator to suit specific application requirements. Simultaneously, the elastic rubber elements dampen vibrations and ensure smooth operation even under varying loads.
The safety coupling's mounting flange eliminates the need for the normally required intermediate flange. This reduces weight and moment of inertia by up to 40 percent. The coupling is characterized by its ease of maintenance, as the bolts and rubber elements can be easily replaced while installed. Its highly elastic design reliably compensates for radial, axial, and angular misalignments.
Designed for the highest demands
The ST5 covers torque ranges from 200 to 40,000 Newton meters at speeds up to 8,500 revolutions per minute. Furthermore, the elastic bolt coupling is also available as a shaft-to-shaft connection without a mechanical torque limiter. This makes the system suitable for a wide variety of applications in mining and tunneling, extrusion plants in the plastics and food industries, shredding plants, and customer-specific heavy-duty applications.
