Stephen Hu, Head of Product Management Team EMEA at Delta, comments on the launch of the ASDA-A3-EP: “Servo drives and motors are the central interface between automation and machines – which is why safety is our top priority. Delta’s commitment is reflected in compliance with the latest safety standards, the integrated STO function, and safety features such as SS1, SS2, and SOS. The ASDA-A3-EP was specifically developed for the requirements of modern machine and plant concepts. It reliably meets even the highest performance and precision requirements and, thanks to integrated safety functions, contributes to a robust overall system. Its easy integration into existing control architectures and intuitive commissioning reduce development effort, accelerate project timelines, and support sustainable efficiency improvements in machine design.”
The ASDA-A3-EP has been consistently designed to meet the requirements of modern machine builders and simultaneously offers system integrators and application providers a future-proof solution. Its user-oriented design enables effortless integration, high flexibility, and economically attractive total costs.
Thanks to rapid commissioning and minimal installation times, measurable added value is immediately generated during the project. The optional safety card adds an extra layer of functionality to the system, ensuring it confidently meets future safety and mechanical engineering requirements – with maximum human protection.
Operators also benefit from intelligent safety functions that significantly reduce reaction times between axis movements and manual interventions, making processes more efficient and safer.
Developed based on market feedback
The specifications and functionality of the ASDA-A3-EP are the result of close collaboration with leading machine manufacturers. Their experience and feedback were directly incorporated into the platform's development, enabling the ASDA-A3-EP to meet the requirements of premium machine manufacturers in Central Europe, North America, and Asia.
Flexible options with fast and reliable communication
The ASDA-A3-EP features an EtherCAT interface with extended sub-protocols such as FoE, EoE, and FSoE. The drive is also equipped with a TCP/IP port and supports IoT nodes. Thanks to EtherCAT's high-speed communication, Ethernet data and files can be transferred directly, enabling exceptionally fast communication. FSoE ensures maximum reliability through robust fault detection and validation mechanisms. Third-party motors can also be integrated for added flexibility. Safety functions can be easily activated via a digital, wired signal.
User Benefits and Optimized Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
The ASDA-A3-EP is designed for easy commissioning and offers optimized human-machine interaction. Modern connectors in the drive reduce total cost of ownership – and these can be further reduced when combined with Delta's battery-free motors. Simplified wiring also minimizes downtime and helps maintain consistently high production output.
