Drive systems
Meet robotics requirements
With new dimensions and features for robotics, the future of drive technology is here: The new BXI is the most powerful integrated drive system in the Faulhaber portfolio to date and was developed to meet the new demands of modern robotic applications.
Human-like movements place the highest demands on precision, power, and dynamics – from delicate grasping movements to powerful, coordinated joint movements. This is precisely where the Faulhaber BXI comes in. The 9317 BXI G series internal rotor motor combines robustness and exceptional compactness, setting new standards for integrated drive systems in robotics. With a maximum torque of up to 20 Nm, it enables dynamic movements, fast response times, and highly precise motion control.
The motor covers a voltage range up to 50 V and, thanks to available interfaces and a length of just 34 mm, can be easily integrated into existing system architectures. This makes the BXI particularly suitable for applications where every millimeter, every gram, and above all, high power density are crucial, such as a compact joint drive in humanoid robots.
Maximum performance in a minimal footprint
The drive system forms a functional unit comprising a motor, integrated planetary gearbox, and high-resolution encoder. Its particular strength lies in its seamless integration: maximum performance with minimal space requirements. The flat aluminum housing offers corrosion resistance and simultaneously supports optimized heat dissipation. The internal rotor design with 21 pole pairs, slotted stator, and iron-core winding ensures low cogging torque and high torque density. The integrated absolute encoder with 15-bit SSI, line driver, and compensation algorithm handles precise positioning, is insensitive to interference, and significantly contributes to the reliability and accuracy of the entire system.
Perfectly integrated within the system
In conjunction with the Faulhaber MC5010 motion controller, an optimally matched overall system is created for torque-sensitive and high-precision positioning tasks. At the same time, the motor and drive are reliably protected, while commissioning is particularly simple and efficient thanks to the Motion Manager software. The Faulhaber BXI thus offers a powerful, future-oriented solution for demanding robotics applications where innovation, application and new technology work together seamlessly.
