Servo press - Material transport

News from the border triangle

Servo presses, transfer systems and more: At the all about automation Friedrichshafen (10–11 March), IEF-Werner will be presenting a selection of its modular and customisable components and systems.

The flexibly designed aiPRESS servo press series is available in four sizes – 3, 15, 36 and 100 kN – and can be integrated into both automated production lines and manual workstations. This allows all force- and displacement-monitored forming, joining and assembly processes to be carried out. The intuitive press control system aiQ-Control, continuous quality control is factory installed. Assemblies can thus be classified not only into good and bad parts, but even into different quality levels. The series has several standardised software and I/O interfaces for connection to the customer's system landscape.

posyART goes MOVEsystem: In Friedrichshafen, IEF-Werner presents its reliable and modular transport system, which the automation specialist has specifically developed for three areas of application. The following options are available: palletMOVE ensures the smooth and intelligent transport of products on workpiece carriers, for example in assembly systems. With productMOVE, components can be conveyed directly on the transport belt, for example on buffer sections. The third area is trayMOVE. This enables small parts to be reliably fed into thermoformed pallets of various sizes, for example in palletising systems. To this end, MOVEsystem is based on a clearly structured modular system that allows systems to be designed specifically and in line with requirements.

The implementation options range from the simple delivery of all individual components to the mechanically constructed, electrically wired and pneumatically tubed circulation system to the completely delivered and commissioned circulation system – based on a Siemens control system.

Other exhibits include a specially adapted linear axis for mounting a robot – keyword: "7th axis". In assembly and material handling, this allows the working space of the robot arm to be expanded, significantly increasing the efficiency of the robot.

The special feature: the axis and robot can be moved via a common control system. The axis, which is driven by a servo motor, therefore does not require its own independent control unit. This not only saves space for a separate control cabinet, but also reduces expensive programming costs. Thanks to modern single-cable technology, a single cable from the control cabinet to the motor of the 7th axis is sufficient. Using the daisy chain method, additional drives – such as rotary tables – can also be seamlessly integrated into the system to save space. These additional drives are conveniently controlled via a URCap for PolyScope. This enables simple and consistent operation. The economical complete solution is modular and quick to set up.
