Safety couplings
No need to fear overload
KBK Antriebstechnik is expanding its product range with three new overload couplings. The new series perfectly complement the existing range and cover a wide variety of applications. A special engagement mechanism for the disengaging safety couplings is also new: it enables quick recommissioning after an overload has been cleared.
The three new overload couplings are the KBK/TKK, KBK/FSKK, and KBK/GKK series. The TKK is a safety coupling with a rigid shaft coupling and is particularly suitable for simple applications such as mixers and agitators. The coupling features clamping hubs and can also be installed in a suspended position. It is available with torque ratings from 3 Nm to 500 Nm and bore diameters from 5 mm to 56 mm. With the new T-series, KBK offers compact mechanical overload protection for applications that previously required complex custom designs.
Specifically developed for hygiene-critical applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the KBK/FSKK safety coupling with spring-loaded locking lugs/slotted locking lugs was created. Equipped with clamping hubs on both sides, the coupling is ideal for applications requiring a certain degree of coupling rigidity. The FSKK is available with torque ratings from 0.2 Nm to 200 Nm and bore diameters from 3 mm to 42 mm. The coupling can compensate for high misalignment. It is more precise than jaw or elastomer couplings and more robust than metal bellows couplings.
The KBK/GKK is a safety coupling with a swivel joint, offered with bore diameters from 3 mm to 55 mm and torque ratings from 0.2 Nm to 200 Nm. The GKK compensates for very high shaft misalignment while exhibiting very low restoring forces. This makes the coupling very gentle on bearings and ideally suited, for example, for automated screwdriving systems. All three new coupling series are available in seven different sizes. They are also optionally available in stainless steel, with laser welding, or in a chemically nickel-plated finish.
KBK is now also offering a new, convenient engagement mechanism for its disengaging safety couplings. The operating principle is unique: "The coupling can be re-engaged very quickly and with minimal effort after the overload situation has been resolved," says KBK Managing Director Sven Karpstein.
