Safety modules
Everything firmly under control
Design engineers must ensure that gravity-loaded axes in their machines cannot fall uncontrollably. Leantechnik's securing systems offer the optimal solution to this challenge: They reliably and forcefully hold the axes in position.
Leantechnik's braking and holding systems prevent moving machine parts from unintentionally lowering or falling. They thus make a significant contribution to workplace safety. Machine and plant manufacturers can choose between two different products: the Stepless Holding Brake (SHB) and the Locking Device (ASS).
The Stepless Holding Brake is particularly suitable for securing axes during operation: It clamps loads quickly, with zero backlash, and with high rigidity directly onto the linear guide. The SHB's operating principle is based on pneumatics: By pressurizing the brake with the required operating pressure, the brake is released. This release causes the pressure of the disc spring on the clamping element – clamping the profile rail.
Leantechnik offers the SHB in two versions: one with 6 bar and a maximum rated holding force of 12,000 N, and the other with 20 bar and a maximum rated holding force of 30,000 N (pressure booster). The booster mechanically increases the pressure supplied by the compressed air system if it is insufficient for operating the SHB. This is significantly more cost-effective for users than a general increase in system pressure. The SHB was specifically designed for use with Leantechnik lifgo rack and pinion drives. Because it features a fail-safe function, it guarantees direct and secure load clamping even in the event of a pneumatic failure. Therefore, the SHB can also be used as a safety brake and is three times stiffer than rod or band brakes.
Optimal locking in the stationary state
The locking device (ASS) was developed for locking systems and equipment when they are not in operation. An air cylinder holds the ASS
open against mechanical spring pressure. In operation, the system is stopped and the air cylinder is vented, causing the toothed bolt to advance towards the rack by spring pressure. The system is then lowered slowly until the toothed bolt is fully engaged in the rack by spring pressure. At this point, the system is mechanically and positively locked in place.
The locking device can be mounted on both the lifgo and lean SL rack and pinion drives from Leantechnik. It is available in four sizes and can be easily retrofitted to the drive.
