For precise multilayer processes

In the manufacture of multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs), even the slightest deviations determine whether a product is rejected or meets quality standards. Cedatec addresses these requirements with customized machine concepts designed for precise, stable motion sequences. Linear technology from Rollon plays a pivotal role in this regard.

Founded in 2018, Cedatec develops custom machinery for the production of multilayer PCBs. Key performance features include a compact design and positioning accuracy of up to 25 micrometers, combined with high dynamic performance. Process quality depends directly on the precision and consistency of the linear motion within the machines; even minimal deviations in the motion sequence can lead to positioning errors and compromise downstream process steps. Cedatec therefore relies on two solutions from Rollon: the ELM belt-driven linear axis and the self-aligning Compact Rail linear guide.

Rollon linear technology ensures stable motion sequences

The ELM linear axis handles the transport of multilayer films within the machines. Compared to the in-house designs previously used, it significantly reduces assembly and adjustment effort while simplifying integration into the machine structure. At the same time, its consistent motion ensures high repeatability and stable transport processes. An integrated polyurethane belt protects the system against dust and contaminants.

For applications requiring greater tolerance compensation and operational reliability, Cedatec utilizes Compact Rail linear guides. These are employed in areas such as welding heads and copper coil handling. Their defining feature is the ability to compensate for misalignment. This allows for looser manufacturing tolerances in the machine structure and avoids costly rework, while simultaneously preventing jamming caused by mechanical stress or inaccuracies. The Compact Rail thus enables smooth, trouble-free movement and facilitates adaptation to customer-specific machine designs. This flexibility is particularly crucial for Cedatec, as nearly every system is custom-engineered.

Linear technology as the key to process stability and adaptability

Stable processes, reduced susceptibility to errors, and flexible adaptation to customer-specific requirements: for Cedatec, Rollon’s linear technology is a functionally critical component of the machine architecture, ensuring the necessary precision and process stability. With an eye on future developments, the company is already working on the next generation of its systems. The focus is on higher process temperatures (up to 300°C), increasing energy efficiency demands, and more compact designs. Linear technology will continue to play a central role in meeting these technical requirements.
