Software-neutral exchange of gearbox data
The KISSsoft system module in KISSsoft Release 2026 introduces the REXS (Reusable Engineering Exchange Standard) interface—an industry-wide standard developed by the Research Association for Drive Technology (FVA) for the software-neutral exchange of gearbox data. This implementation, compatible with REXS version 1.7, enables more flexible engineering workflows.
The interface allows for the exchange of gearbox system definitions, including spur, bevel, planetary, and worm gear units, as well as shafts, bearings, and external loads. Thanks to the standardized XML format, the complete kinematic structure and gearbox topology can be imported into or exported from the KISSsoft system module. By facilitating seamless data exchange with MBS, FEM, and other CAE tools, the REXS interface streamlines engineering collaboration, improves workflow integration, and ensures long-term compatibility.
