Cable routing
Demonstrate new technologies
By using the Robotrax cable carrier system in combination with the innovative PBU return unit from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp, automation expert Keba Industrial Automation was able to set up a practical technology demonstrator. Safe cable routing was a key building block to success.
In its latest demonstration, international automation expert for machine-integrated robots Keba Industrial Automation shows the possibilities opened up by the digital twin of an industrial robot. As a demonstrator, an industrial robot was set up with a multifaceted tool simulator that illustrates corresponding use cases. As in practical applications, a multipole electrical cable had to be connected to this tool simulator. At the same time, safe cable routing had to be ensured in the robot's workspace, even at maximum dynamics.
In cooperation with Tsubaki Kabelschlepp, the Robotrax cable carrier system, which is optimized for use on industrial robots and flexible in three dimensions, was designed and dimensioned. Safe cable routing with different robot positions and high dynamics could be achieved with the PBU return unit. The Austrian representative of Tsubaki Kabelschlepp provided support for the practical optimization.
"The cable routing system impresses with its simple installation and versatile mounting options," says Michael Garstenauer, Product Manager Robotics at Keba Industrial Automation. "In combination with the return unit, reliable pretensioning is ensured along the entire demonstration tracks." The dreaded bumping of the energy chain could be avoided even with the highest dynamics and full freedom of movement. The result was a thoroughly reliable overall solution that is suitable for the long term.
