Couplings
Wear-free and easy to clean
Magnetic couplings from KBK Antriebstechnik are ideal for permanent overload protection. They cover torque ranges between 0.1 and 60 Nm and are wear-free and easy to clean. The couplings thus offer optimum properties for use in the food industry and on packaging equipment.
Unlike mechanical designs, KBK's magnetic couplings transmit torque without contact and therefore do not wear out. As a result, the couplings meet the stringent requirements for machines in the food and packaging sectors, which must operate quickly, precisely and without interruption. KBK manufactures both hysteresis magnetic couplings and permanent magnetic couplings. The two designs react differently in the event of an overload: while hysteresis magnetic couplings provide a sliding separation of the power transmission, permanent magnet couplings jolt in the event of an overload.
KBK's hysteresis magnetic couplings are therefore very well suited for use in the rotary heads of bottle capping systems for PET bottles. There, they prevent the bottle caps from being twisted too tightly so that they can be opened easily by the consumer. KBK's permanent magnetic couplings, on the other hand, are ideal for the rotary heads in capping systems for glass bottles. Here, the jerky separation of the power transmission ensures that the bottle cap is firmly screwed down and a perfect seal is achieved.
However, magnetic couplings from KBK also reliably protect against overloads on packaging equipment - e.g. on horizontal cartoners where a pusher pushes the products into the box. Overloads can also occur on carton forming or carton sealing lines due to jamming of the cutting tools.
Hysteresis magnetic couplings from KBK are available for torque ranges between 01, and 5 Nm, while the permanent magnetic couplings can be used for torques between 1.2 and 60 Nm. Both magnetic couplings are suitable for speed ranges from 4,000 to 10,000 min-1 and are also available as an easy-to-clean stainless steel version. On request, KBK can also use special magnets and adhesives - e.g. for high-temperature applications. The drive technology specialist also supports its customers in the design and calculation of the required rotational and overload torques.
