The new FWX winch drive series takes care of the really huge challenges. The large winch drive is high performance with a torque of up to 1.6 million Nm according to FEM classes M5-T5-L2. The FWX drives have a robust design suitable for harsh marine environments. Very compact and lightweight relative to torque, Bonfiglioli's FWX winch drive series offers a wide range of gear ratios.
With six sizes, the FWX series offers a wide torque range covering a spectrum from 225,000 to 1.6 million Nm. The largest size in this gear unit series, named FWX3000, impresses with its sheer size and weight: just under 1.6 meters in outer diameter, over 1.1 meters in length - without motor, and weighing around ten tons.
From the smallest to the largest size, the series have the same technical features: Optimized tapered roller bearings are integrated for better drum support and cable pull. As high-performance drives, they enable a high input speed. The low-temperature range can withstand temperatures down to minus 40 degrees Celsius without complaint. The compact design makes drum installation a breeze. And maintenance has been noticeably simplified with easy front oil change and an additional drain plug on the rotating flange.
With a torque range of 1,000 to 3,000,000 Nm, all Bonfiglioli drives are designed to meet high performance requirements in the special conditions found at sea. The drives are approved according to the standards set by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Certificates from Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) as well as the China Classification Society (CCS) are also available.
Bonfiglioli offers a wide range of products for virtually all marine and offshore applications. This includes a comprehensive range of products for lifting, pulling and slewing machinery, such as marine cranes, offshore cranes, deck machinery, azimuth thrusters and pipe layers. Bonfiglioli meets industry specifications and has also developed a special range of gearboxes for lifting machines with rack and pinion design intended for jack-up rigs, service lift boats, residential and wind turbine installation vessels.
