Proven cooling concept, smaller CO2 footprint

Baumüller presents the new DS3-160W three-phase synchronous motor. The motor convinces with an aluminum housing in which the cooling channels for liquid cooling are integrated. The number and arrangement of the water connections have been optimized once again. This enables easier connection and more compact installation of the motor.

The optimized cooling channels reduce the pressure drop in the engine's cooling circuit by up to 80 percent. This means that smaller pumps can be used in the cooling unit. This has a positive effect on the total costs of ownership (TCO), as the acquisition costs for the pump system are reduced, thereby saving electricity costs for operating the pump. In addition, the consumption of resources in the manufacture of the motor is reduced, which contributes sustainably to a lower product carbon footprint (PCF). This is an important factor in reducing energy and resource consumption in the long term for the overall machine as well.

The intelligent choice of materials also significantly reduces the weight of the motor, which leads to a reduced load on the machine mechanics. In addition to the new application, the conversion of the motors from DS2-160W to DS3-160W is very easy, as the mechanical interfaces and performance data are almost identical.
