Stein Automation has expanded its IT expertise and developed a new logistics control system. The C5G version from the specialist for workpiece carrier systems optimizes networked production facilities that are intelligently controlled via RFID technology. For users, this means more flexibility.
Instead of the previously used fiber optic cables, Stein relies on Ethernet for internal data exchange in the C5G logistics controller. Five interface slots ensure greater flexibility. These enable communication via common interfaces such as Profibus or Modbus. This allows up to 1,400 bytes to be transferred instead of a maximum of 256 bytes as with the predecessor model, and several read heads can be operated with one controller.
For applications in the field of Industry 4.0, the new controller can be connected to higher-level controllers without much effort thanks to OPC UA. In line with the motto "configure instead of program", Stein has designed the C5G to be user-friendly. Users simply set up the new development via PC and operate it on the large display. Self-explanatory, interactive buttons act as helpers. The workpiece carrier specialist developed the hardware and software itself.
