Ready for the future with three-level technology
Compared to its predecessor SD2M, the SD4M frequency inverter offers further improvements in terms of functionality and control technology: The main advantages are the control technology improvements and the Ethernet-based bus systems. The SD4M also offers a control function for IPM motors.
The SD4M is a real problem solver, especially in the field of turbocompressors and turbo-compressors: Here, on the one hand, the low motor heating in combination with the high system efficiency is of benefit. The latter leads to significant energy savings and short return-on-investment times in quasi 24/7 full-load operation. Furthermore, the elimination of motor chokes or sinusoidal filters results in a more compact design volume and lower manufacturing costs for the overall system.
The new 32-bit processor is up to five times faster, allowing higher resolution and more accurate calculations. In addition, Sieb & Meyer has used the processor power now available for new control functions. For example, it is now possible to optimally operate synchronous motors with "buried" magnets, also called Interior Permanent Magnet Motor (IPM).
Existing customers will continue to be able to use the SD2M - for new projects, however, the switch to the SD4M is easy: in terms of performance, the SD4M is compatible with the SD2M. The customer only has to use a slightly different connector on the logic side and observe a few subtleties.
