More machine classes

Bosch Rexroth is expanding the adaptable and scalable RS Large valve platform with new modules for larger machine classes.

The new flow-sharing modules from size 22 are optimized for electrohydraulic control and already prepared for driver assistance functions. Manufacturers of large construction machinery, vehicles for materials handling or forestry benefit from a flexible machine design with standardization effects as well as greater energy efficiency and simple digitalization. The valve platform is also suitable for mobile cranes, large forklifts, bulldozers, and industrial excavators for recycling and similar applications.

With the RS Large valve sections of nominal sizes 15, 20 and 22, hydraulic control blocks for off-highway vehicles can be assembled very flexibly from individual modules. With consumer volume flows of up to 400 l/min, the modularly assembled control blocks are also optimized in terms of space requirements, weight, performance and energy efficiency. New to the RS portfolio are the slice modules in nominal size 22, with further modules in size 25 and above in preparation.

High agility thanks to online configurator

With the help of the RS Large online configurator, machine manufacturers can create their own valve configurations in a short time. The corresponding fluid plans as well as the 2D and 3D installation models are automatically generated and made available for download. This saves a great deal of time in engineering, especially since users can check the placement of the control block in the machine at an early stage and adjust it if necessary. Once the order has been placed, all technical documents are transferred directly to Bosch Rexroth's production planning department. This shortens delivery times, especially for the construction of prototypes or small series.

Increased flexibility

The modular approach of the Rexroth Flow Sharing Platform (RS) enables off-highway manufacturers to create customer-specific machine concepts efficiently and flexibly in single- or dual-circuit systems. By custom combining post-compensated and pre-compensated valve sections, such concepts make the most of the advantages of the flow sharing approach and benefit from its "social property" of distributing any undersupply at peak load evenly among all consumers. This avoids an abrupt and thus potentially dangerous stop of movement of a function in case of undersupply. At the same time, the platform allows functions to be prioritized - such as a rotary actuator or attachments. Additional function modules can be integrated to reduce installation and piping effort as well as overall complexity. Examples include the RSM20 travel stabilization module for wheel loaders, an anti-drift valve (ADV) or the RBM15 steering priority module.

More energy efficiency through (dual-circuit) flow sharing

With an optimal compromise of reduced pressure losses, precise controllability and modular hydraulic architecture, the RS valve platform creates ideal conditions for the greatest possible overall efficiency of mobile machinery. The dual-circuit element allows the two hydraulic circuits to be intelligently connected or disconnected, increasing energy efficiency by at least ten percent. Regeneration functions for further efficiency gains can be integrated directly into the valve sections, and the tank preload can be adjusted electrohydraulically to the actual operating conditions.

Prepared for driving assistance functions

Electrohydraulic control of the platform with software opens up further potential for saving energy and increasing efficiency. In combination with the modules of the electronic Open Circuit (eOC) solution portfolio, for example, travel and work functions can be mapped in a common hydraulic circuit. This also facilitates the integration of driver assistance functions such as traversing path curves or a movement stop when leaving the work area. For this purpose, Bosch Rexroth offers a large number of prepared software modules that can be quickly and easily adapted to individual requirements.

Robust design for high-pressure applications

All RS valve sections are designed for consumer pressures up to 420 bar and can be equipped with manually or electrically proportionally adjustable pressure relief valves. The pump connection in the inlet element allows pressures up to 400 bar and, in addition to primary protection, also offers LS relief and an additional unloading valve against pressure peaks and for a dynamic start of movement.
