The CSD (Circuit Switched Data) data service is to be switched off by Deutsche Telekom. Analog modems, which are used in building control systems or plant automation, for example, will no longer be able to transmit data from this date, which represents a major technical challenge for many operators. With its gateways, IoTmaxx not only offers an uncomplicated digital exchange solution, but also benefits such as simple installation and comprehensive personal service.

With the introduction of modern IP telephone systems, the operation of analog cable modems is history, as this technology is no longer supported. The circuit-switched data (CSD) service also no longer represents the state of the art and is to be switched off. It is used, for example, for transmission tasks with low data volumes such as the remote reading of meter readings or the transmission of signals from heaters, fire detectors and alarm systems to the corresponding operations centers of porters, service readiness centers and fire alarm control centers.

"We now offer system operators the opportunity to continue using their existing CSD-based infrastructure at low cost," said Christian Lelonek, managing director of IoTmaxx GmbH. Analog modems can be quickly and easily replaced by the manufacturer's digital gateways without having to make extensive adjustments to the existing system. However, there is often a lack of a contact person with the necessary expertise for the network connection or the serial interfaces of the system during installation. "We solve this problem because our technicians guide the user step by step through the process either by phone or online - we are only satisfied when everything works and our customers can rely on the flawless communication of their system."

Mobile radio gateways simulate analog modems

IoTmaxx's reliable, programmable cellular gateways collect and process information from industrial machines and systems and transmit the data over secure cellular connections. The IIoT mobile gateways maxx GW4100 CSD over IP offer a serial interface that simulates a classic modem. Communication with the plant can continue without changes to existing systems.

If the mobile radio gateway is used with a SIM card, SMS can also be sent via this connection if required. For identification of the communication participants, a virtual telephone number is assigned to each maxx GW4100 gateway. For easy commissioning and fast replacement of a gateway in case of a fault, the telephone number as well as all settings of the serial interface can be parameterized and adjusted via a configuration file on the gateway. The simple plug & play concept is scalable as required.
