Drives
Low distortion, high power density
Delta, a global provider of energy management and industrial automation solutions, has announced the launch of its new VP3000 open-loop, variable-torque standard drive for fan, pump and compressor applications.
The VP3000 is specifically designed to improve the operating efficiency of fluid machinery and reduce inverter distortion for a variety of fluid applications. The VP3000 series offers high performance and stability with support for high-efficiency motors including induction motors, permanent magnet motors and synchronous reluctance motors from 0.75 to 630 kW.
"When operating fluid machinery, customers now also want high efficiency to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, low THD, and user-friendly features. With higher power density and on average 23% less cabinet space, as well as a low THDi of up to THDi 35%, the VP3000 meets regulations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia," said Landers Yeh, Product Manager, Industrial Automation Business Group, Delta Electronics EMEA region. "We are confident that this new variable torque drive will be very competitive."
Highest standard and low harmonic distortion
Delta's new VP3000 drives are equipped with a number of built-in safety features. Safe Torque OFF (STO) according to SIL3, the highest integrity level for machine systems. Integrated EMC filters provide electromagnetic compatibility up to C2/C3. The drive is moisture and dust resistant thanks to 3C3 coating. By using film capacitors instead of conventional electrolytic capacitors, Delta was also able to reduce the drive's THD to 35%, well below the EN 61000-3-2 standard, which specifies a THDi of less than 48%.
Energy-saving and user-friendly features
Compared to the general motor drive, the higher power density of the VP3000 enables an average 23% reduction in cabinet volume. In some cases, unit volume can be reduced by as much as 55%. The high-performance models can also be equipped with durable and easy-to-maintain floor modules, optimizing space utilization and facilitating installation for easier and faster operation. This also helps improve engine productivity and efficiency by reducing CO2 emissions in line with environmental sustainability as a critical component of equipment-based energy savings.
Equipment in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water treatment industries will benefit from the drive's advanced features that enable the movement of fluids using fans and pumps. The new drive also features a predictive maintenance function for key components that helps users plan maintenance in advance to ensure reliable machine operation.
