Schmalz has launched its new configurator: This now also allows customers to directly design a gripper that fits their application based on the PXT gripper modular system - around the clock. The vacuum expert is expanding its digital services with the new online tool.

Putting together a gripper requires good programmers and gripper know-how. Schmalz combines both and programmed a new configurator for its modular gripper system PXT. This includes four different connection technologies, connection elements and flange types as well as two different tubes that are variable in length. The flexible system enables individual gripper solutions and simplifies the automation of various handling processes with lightweight robots.

The PXT configurator significantly simplifies the path to an individual gripper - both for users from the mechanical and plant engineering sector and for the sales department of the Black Forest vacuum expert. With the help of the web-based application, the user combines a functioning system from the basic components - simply, comprehensibly and quickly. There is no need for time-consuming job design. After just a few clicks, he sees a digital version of his desired gripper and can integrate its CAD data directly into his system project planning.

The PXT configurator allows projects to be saved or shared and, in addition to the CAD data, provides a detailed description of the gripper as well as a price overview. The final offer is then prepared by the Schmalz sales department in person. The quality remains high despite the accelerated process and the resulting faster delivery. At the same time, the self-service concept creates capacity for complex customer applications that require intensive and personal consulting by Schmalz sales professionals.

This is not the first time that the vacuum expert has let the user take the mouse in his hand and design his desired product himself. After the possibility of creating the SLG lightweight gripper online by oneself, the PXT configurator expands the range of digital services. And Schmalz promises that more will follow.
