Supply chain intelligence in real time
Siemens Digital Industries Software announced that it is integrating the Supplyframe design-to-source intelligence platform into its Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software and services to bring robust, real-time supply chain intelligence to the world's most comprehensive digital twin technology.
Acquired by Siemens in 2021, the design-to-source intelligence platform Supplyframe is a leading solution for the global electronics value chain. It helps electronics manufacturers and distributors accelerate new product introductions, reduce supply chain risks, and capitalize on market opportunities through intelligent software and industry-specific solutions. Supplyframe includes real-time global availability and lead times for over 600 million components and captures billions of data signals on component supply, demand, risk and business intent.
The integration of Supplyframe's design-to-source intelligence platform with Siemens' Xpedition™ electronic systems design software creates a fully integrated solution available immediately. It increases supply chain resilience by providing real-time visibility into global component availability, demand, cost, compliance and related parametric data at the time of design.
The new solution combines Siemens' market leadership in printed circuit board (PCB) design and analysis technologies with Supplyframe's extensive market expertise. This combination helps users reduce costs, increase their own flexibility and make better, more informed decisions about components at the time of design. By synchronizing data from Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD), the solution optimizes the selection, creation and management of components when designing electronic systems.
"This new solution is a 'game changer' for our OEM customers, who have faced extraordinary challenges in recent years due to a number of dynamic market forces," said AJ Incorvaia, senior vice president of Electronic Board Systems at Siemens Digital Industries Software. "Global supply chains have become increasingly unpredictable due to unprecedented geopolitical developments and globally distributed organizations and suppliers. Add to this the ever-increasing pressure to develop highly complex new products and bring them to market quickly. By combining the industry-leading capabilities of Supplyframe's design-to-source intelligence platform with Siemens' industry-leading Xpedition electronic systems design software, we are equipping our customers with the tools and technologies to compete and succeed in the face of these challenges."
Siemens' new integrated offering provides features and use cases for engineering organizations developing next-generation PCB designs, including:
- Direct access to detailed component information on more than 600 million part numbers from manufacturers, enabling engineers to make more informed decisions about parts and trade-offs, with the lowest cost of change.
- Eliminate manual data entry and library maintenance.
- Detailed part comparison views, "what-if" analysis for part selection, and digitally managed workflows.
- Seamless, real-time part-level audits for streamlined risk assessments during design entry.
"To remain competitive in today's dynamic global business environment, companies must be able to quickly adapt their design and sourcing strategies. It's the only way they can keep pace with the rapid evolution of the industry," said Steve Flagg, founder and CEO of Supplyframe, a Siemens company. "This offering further extends Siemens' leadership in supply chain resilience. Siemens' Xcelerator portfolio enables robust collaboration between engineering, NPI management and procurement teams In addition, it provides integrated resilience and decision support to all stakeholders in the modern digital enterprise."
Siemens' Xpedition software is the industry's most innovative solution for the design and development of printed circuit boards and electronic systems. It offers a comprehensive portfolio of best-in-class solutions for development, design, analysis, manufacturing and data management. The Xpedition solution provides a PCB design flow that spans system design definition and electronics design, electromechanical co-design, analysis and verification, and PCB manufacturing.
