Servo controllers
Solves tasks for dynamic multi-axis applications
Powerful drive solutions are indispensable for implementing efficient and automated production processes. In order to optimally equip tomorrow's machines for demanding motion tasks, Lenze has added a new servo inverter to its portfolio: the i750 cabinet for motion control applications, in combination with modern Lenze controllers, solves almost all automation tasks for dynamic multi-axis applications.
In the age of batch size 1 and ever-increasing competitive pressure in production, the bar for drive technology is higher than ever: fast response times, absolute motion accuracy, intelligent algorithms and maximum productivity are considered basic requirements for competitive machine automation. Thanks to over 75 years of experience in drive technology, Lenze knows these challenges inside out and now offers a powerful answer for motion control applications in the form of the i750 cabinet multi-axis servo inverter. Björn Maltzahn, Motion Control Product Manager at Lenze, explains: "Our new servo inverter represents a consistent evolutionary further development of our portfolio. The i750 masters complex applications and offers mechanical engineering new design scope for future-proof solutions."
Automation at a high level
The servo inverter scores in the application with a maximum of precision and dynamics. Its outstanding control performance enables operators to increase the cycle rates of their machines by up to 20 %. In combination with a Lenze controller, the auto-tuning function also makes the user's work much easier during commissioning and improves the machine's efficiency. The i750 product range consists of feeders, single and double axes operated in a DC system. Characteristic features are a narrow overall width and extensive integrated safety technology. The units can be used universally in the power range from 1.1 to 15 KW for single axles and from 1.1 to 7.5 KW for double axles. Between 22 and 110 KW, the i950 cabinet servo inverter functions as a power extension.
Simple integration
In addition to efficiency and precision, the new servo inverter stands out above all for its easy integration into Lenze control systems, as Björn Maltzahn reports: "The i750 offers all the advantages of an open EtherCAT CiA402 interface and is used in centrally controlled system architectures. It unfolds its full potential in conjunction with Lenze controllers, which makes it an indispensable element for sophisticated automation systems. Users benefit from both maximum accuracy and higher throughput." Predefined and tested software modules in the Lenze FAST application software toolbox significantly reduce development and commissioning times thanks to the product philosophy of "parameterising instead of programming".
Universal single-cable technology
The i750 servo inverter series supports the operation of motors with single-cable technology (OCT) across the entire power range. Björn Maltzahn sees this as a decisive plus point: "Single-cable technology saves users more than half the installation effort and at the same time valuable space in their control cabinet." The use of single-cable technology is possible thanks to the open motor feedback protocol HIPERFACE DSL. Lenze motors and geared motors in single-cable technology are the MCS and m850 motor series, which are equipped with high-resolution HIPERFACE DSL encoders. This means that the i750 servo inverter provides a complete drive system for highly dynamic applications.
A safe choice for the future
The development team also focused strongly on the new functional safety of the servo inverter. Its integrated safety functions cover a wide range of safety-relevant machine applications. The device fulfils the safety requirements up to safety integrity level 3 (SIL 3) or performance level e (PL e). Extended safety functions such as Safely-limited speed (SLS), Safe direction (SDI) and Safely-limited position (SLP) provide even more extensive options for safeguarding machine functions. Björn Maltzahn sums up: "Whether safety, precision or performance: with our new servo inverter and the matching product portfolio, machine builders and operators can meet any requirements that drive technology has in store.
