Kollmorgen, a global supplier of drive control systems, has introduced the new AKD2G 24A drive. Optimised for use in precision multi-axis servo systems, the new single-cable drive builds on the strengths of the AKD2G portfolio, including enhanced safety features, SD card backup and a graphic display with higher current capability to support more applications with higher power requirements, such as conveyors and vertical lifting applications.

Customers now have the option of more power and control in a compact, high-current servo drive that offers advanced integration capabilities to support complex drive functions in a simpler machine.

Compared to other drives in its class, the AKD2G 24A offers three times the continuous rated current in peak operation for up to 5 seconds - ideal for intermittently used high power servo motors. In these applications where peak is critical, customers may be able to reduce their servo drives to this new 24A offering.

The Kollmorgen Motioneering Sizing & Selection Tool guides you through the process. The new AKD2G 24A servo drive offers configurable options such as safety level, I/O, feedback and fieldbus. It supports a secondary brake via a standard X4 connector and enables faster Smart Feedback Adapter (SFA) wiring with a standard X5 connector.
