NSK has developed a new technology to further increase the running smoothness of the proven NH/ NS series of linear guides. For the first time, some elastic rolling elements are used in a linear guide. This patented innovation results in very low and also uniform dynamic friction. This makes this technology suitable for precision applications in measuring and testing technology as well as in semiconductor production, among others.

In many areas of application, very high demands are placed on the uniformity and precision of linear movements - and these demands are constantly increasing. This applies in particular to measuring and testing technology, but also to other fields of application such as production systems for semiconductors and LCD displays, the production of automotive components, for robotics and for machine tools.

NSK's linear guides of the NH/ NS series are often used here, which are characterised by very smooth running, among other things. With a current innovation, the precision of the linear movement is increased even further: NSK has developed a new technology in which, firstly, the guidance of the balls is optimised and, secondly, additional elastic rolling elements are integrated into the ball circulation.

These two design features result in the well-known micro-stuttering - short irregularities in the linear movement caused by friction fluctuations - being effectively suppressed and the dynamic friction forces being reduced. This is achieved, among other things, by the fact that the new design prevents contact between the balls in the curved sections of the ball circulation path.

The NSK linear guides with "Ultra Smooth Motion" are also suitable for applications in unfavourable (vertical) installation positions and other conditions under which the operating characteristics tend to deteriorate. The dimensions of the new linear guides are identical to those of the standard NH/NS series, making them 1:1 interchangeable without changes to the surrounding construction.

The reduced-friction technology is available for the NH 15, 20 and 25 series and the NS 15, 20, 25 and 30 models. Options offered for the new "Ultra Smooth Motion" units include stainless steel variants, various slide lengths and types, the K1-L lubrication unit and special surface treatments.
