Housing bearings

From very small to really big

From very small to really big

The breadth of Findling Wälzlager's range of housing bearings can be illustrated by plummer blocks for shafts of 50 mm diameter: These products are available in ten different designs and sizes that support loads from 29.2 to 156 kN. This wide range is achieved, among other things, through different materials such as sheet steel, gray cast iron and cast steel as well as special bearing inserts.

Findling offers an extensive range of robust and at the same time economical housing bearings. The special Xforce range from Findling also includes particularly durable housing bearings for heavy-duty applications. These can withstand high loads and harsh environmental conditions and are therefore suitable for use in construction machinery, agriculture or classic heavy machinery construction, for example.

Also designed for heavy-duty applications are the ready-to-install spherical roller bearing units from premium manufacturer FYH, also known as the SRU (Spherical Roller Unit) series. Instead of several individual components, the bearing system consists of a ready-installed set of bearing and housing made of high-strength cast iron (GGG). The sealed bearing units are equipped with an extremely robust and heavy-duty spherical roller bearing. Compared to standard housing bearings, the load ratings are many times higher. The solution also compensates for angular misalignment, offers a high speed range and ensures extremely high holding forces on the shaft.

Housing bearings are particularly robust. However, they are only tough if the housing is designed to be as break-resistant as possible. In addition, the frequently used material gray cast iron is susceptible to impact loads. For this reason, the housing strength should always be tested. A few rules should also be observed when mounting housing bearings – otherwise the robust bearing technology could fail prematurely. Findling Wälzlager has compiled tips on these and other topics such as tightening torques, speed characteristics and relubrication intervals on its website.

Acoustic resonance testing for quality control

In industrial manufacturing, resonant testing is often used in the end-of-line test, allowing clear pass-fail decisions and detecting defects for consequently excluding rejects from production lines. Optical vibration sensors like laser vibrometers provide a non-contact and high precision way for determining the resonance frequency and provide significant advantages for quality control.
