Energy chains

For wind power and co

Tsubaki Kabelschlepp supports the expansion and generation of renewable energies with a large portfolio of innovative energy chains. The robust and flexible solutions for cable protection and line management improve the safety and efficiency of the systems and are ideally suited to the harsh environmental conditions, for example in the offshore area.

Whether hydropower, wind energy or photovoltaics – wherever electrical energy is generated, lines must be protected, routed and organized. Dynamic applications that generate energy from movement pose a particular challenge to line management, because the energy chains must follow these movements flexibly. “In a wind turbine, for example, there are various rotational movements on the adjustment mechanism of the rotor blades and on the so-called nacelle,” explains Jürgen Weichel, Industry Manager Oil & Gas at Tsubaki Kabelschlepp. “It also makes sense to protect the cables for the gondola with an energy chain. Our energy chains are ideal for all of these applications.”

With its products, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp not only supports the generation of renewable energy, but also the transport, installation and maintenance of the corresponding systems. This is a particular challenge in the area of offshore wind power. For example, special installation ships are used to set up the wind turbines, and the masts are erected using specially designed devices that are operated electrically or hydraulically. Safe cable routing is essential throughout the entire installation process. Tsubaki Kabelschlepp has both extensive expertise and the right product solutions here - also due to numerous projects on oil and gas platforms with similar environmental conditions.

Portfolio ideally suited for offshore applications

“Our energy chains are ideal for the offshore sector,” emphasizes Jürgen Weichel. “Our portfolio includes cable carriers made of steel, plastic and numerous hybrid solutions. If the energy chains come into direct contact with seawater, we usually use high-quality stainless steel. Due to the large selection of products and materials, the user is not only extremely flexible, but can also rely on the high quality and technical sophistication of our solutions.”

For example, by using aluminum separators, perforated bars or roller bars, the friction between the energy chain and cables can be minimized and thus wear can be greatly reduced. In addition, the energy chains allow cables and hoses to be laid in an extremely space-saving manner and are particularly easy to maintain due to the various opening options. Last but not least, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp's steel chains can be 100 percent recycled at the end of their service life.

In addition to the quality products, the user benefits from customer-specific advice and application-related technical implementation by the experts at Tsubaki Kabelschlepp. Because the individual projects in the field of renewable energies are as different as the optimal solutions, which are planned and implemented in close collaboration with the customer.

“We are proud to be making an important contribution to the further development of renewable energies,” sums up Jürgen Weichel. “Our energy chains not only improve the safety and efficiency of various energy producers and systems, but are also a sign of our commitment to a more sustainable future.”
